Developed by VMC in collaboration with Gilardoni, the RVA 110 cylinder kit offers almost 110cc for Vespa 50 and PK 50 smallframe engines. It combines a 57mm bore with the original 43mm stroke and direct reed induction.

The RVA 110 package includes the cylinder, eight-point head, piston, reed induction components, inlet blanking plate, gaskets and fixings.

Developed by VMC in collaboration with Italian cylinder specialist Gilardoni, the RVA 110 is aimed at Vespa 50 and PK 50 smallframe engines. Its aluminium cylinder uses a nickel-silicon-plated bore, six transfer ports and a bridged exhaust port. Quoted port timings are approximately 120 degrees for the transfers and 180 degrees for the exhaust.

A 57mm bore and 43mm stroke produce almost 110cc, with six transfers feeding the Gilardoni-finished plated bore. Direct reed induction is built into the cylinder, freeing the inlet arrangement from the original rotary-valve timing.

The principal change is direct reed induction through the cylinder. VMC supplies a manifold with an internal diameter of approximately 24mm, together with a four-petal spring-steel reed block. Carburettors from 19-24mm are recommended, with the supplied manifold intended to suit Dell’Orto PHBL-type fitments.

Up top, the cast-aluminium head is CNC-machined with a recessed squish band and eight-point fixing. The package also includes the piston and rings, gudgeon pin and clips, cylinder and head fixings, inlet blanking plate, rubber carburettor connector, clamps and a selection of base gaskets.

The attraction is obvious: almost 110cc while retaining the standard 43mm stroke and compact 50cc-style cylinder cowling. VMC’s instructions specify a squish clearance of 1.1mm (plus or minus 0.1mm) and require the ring gaps and inlet clearance to be checked during assembly. Frame or carburettor clearance may also need attention, particularly on PK installations. More Info: www.ve-uk.com
