Stone Scooter Club was established in 2013 and over the last few years has fundraised for many different national charities by being sponsored for one-day long-distance ride-outs mainly in mid and north Wales. At SSC’s AGM in January, it was agreed that a local proposed charity would be fundraised for appropriately at several events for the whole of the year. The agreed-upon local charity for 2026 is Stone Alzheimer’s Club which offers marvellous support and work in Stone and the surrounding area.
In February, the first event of the year was the Stone Town Mayor’s annual charity quiz held at the Frank Jordon Centre. It was a full house with over 200 quizzers taking part with self-provided drinks and nibbles. All money raised, including the raffle, went to the Town Mayor’s three chosen charities, which are: Stone Alzheimer’s Club, Stone First Responders, and Stone Stroke Club.
