SIP’s summer Joyride
Enthusiasts came from Scotland, Delhi and across Germany to join SIP Scootershop’s 55km summer run through the Landsberg district.
Blue skies, pleasant temperatures and a steady stream of scooters arrived at the area outside SIP Scootershop in Landsberg this July. This was the 2026 SIP Vespa Joyride, and its starting line-up ran from classic 50cc machines to modern 300cc Vespas. Chrome, patina and current GTS models all had their place.

The riders were every bit as varied. Young enthusiasts, seasoned veterans, long-standing Vespa devotees and newcomers came together to create the broad mixture of people and machinery that keeps the Vespa scene interesting. From the morning onwards, the car park filled with conversation, smiling faces and the constant sound of newly arriving scooters.
Some had come a very long way. Eddie travelled from Scotland over three days specifically to take part in the Joyride, while Abhi from Delhi also made sure not to miss the event. Other participants included the Vespa Classico group from Aschaffenburg and Vespisti from Vespa Club Mannheim.

Even the event’s artwork had an international flavour. The poster and Joyride T-shirt were created by Swiss graphic artist Gabriel Giger from the canton of Valais. His design captured the simple ingredients behind the day: riding a Vespa, meeting friends, getting out on the road and enjoying the summer.
Turning those ingredients into an organised ride required rather more work. Christian from the SIP team handled the permits, organisational hurdles and numerous smaller problems involved in arranging the tour. Considerable patience and persistence went into the preparations, leaving the riders free to concentrate on enjoying the day.
Before setting off, the SIPERIA supplied coffee, croissants, cold drinks and paninis, ensuring nobody began the run hungry or thirsty. The morning meeting point quickly became a social event in its own right, filled with technical conversations, reunions with old friends, new acquaintances and plenty of last-minute anticipation.
The ride covered around 55 kilometres through the Fuchstal valley and the southern part of the Landsberg district, passing green meadows, small villages and open summer scenery. It was a route intended for riding together rather than rushing: neither too fast nor too hectic, but well suited to enjoying the journey as a group.
Lake Ammersee and the beer garden of the Alte Villa in Utting provided the destination. Beneath the shade of the trees, riders found more food and cold drinks while the conversations continued. Stories were swapped, scooters discussed and the day’s ride replayed before everyone began thinking about the journey home.
The SIP Vespa Joyride was ultimately about more than covering 55 kilometres. Participants had come from Landsberg, Aschaffenburg, Mannheim, Scotland and Delhi, but the common ground was obvious: Vespas, friendship and the simple pleasure of being out on the road together.
Anyone who missed this year’s event already has another opportunity. SIP has confirmed that the 2027 Vespa Joyride will take place on Saturday, 3 July. More info: www.sip-scootershop.com
