If you’re looking for an excuse to point your scooter towards the Continent, SIP Scootershop might have just provided it.
On 16 May 2026, SIP will once again throw open the doors at their headquarters in Landsberg am Lech for their annual SIP Open Day, marking the start of the scooter season in Bavaria and beyond.
The event has become a major date in the European scooter calendar. Last year’s Open Day attracted around 3,500 scooter riders, travelling from across Germany and neighbouring countries to spend the day at SIP’s base.

A long weekend of scooter events
The timing makes it especially appealing for anyone considering a road trip. The Thursday before the Open Day is Ascension Day, a public holiday in Germany, and Munich hosts the Vespa Corso on the same weekend — two scooter-focused events within easy reach of each other.
What’s happening on the day
Visitors to the SIP Open Day can expect a full programme of food, music, scooters and activities, including:
- Pizza from SIP’s wood-fired Ape
- Food and drinks from the Italian-style SIPERIA café bar
- Parts and used scooter market
- NEW: 12 noon Snails Race by The Snails, Leuk (Switzerland)
- Performance runs on a calibrated P4 Amerschläger test bench (€10 voluntary donation)
- 2pm: 100hp Challenge with a €1000 prize
- 4pm: Custom show
- Photo wall for visitors
- Guided tours of SIP’s logistics and administration
- Bouncy castle for children
- Club and brand stands
- Live DJ sound throughout the day

Worth the journey?
For many UK scooterists, a trip to the SIP Open Day is about more than just the event itself. With Bavaria, Munich and the Alps nearby, it’s the kind of weekend that naturally lends itself to a longer European ride — especially when combined with another major scooter gathering just down the road.
