Young Guns, Old Steel!

Meet the Post-2000 Scooter Crew… We hear from Cleggy:

Post 2000, it was originally just a friend group of five: Cleggy (that’s me), Harvey, Josh, George, and Scarlett. Everyone met at Bridlington 2024; a couple of us knew each other from before, but this was the first proper time we all met up. After that rally, everyone grew a bond.

Starting post 2000, we came up with this name as an indication of what we stand for, which is to try to get the youth back into the scooter scene; otherwise, it’s gonna disappear. Then, going on, we went to Scarborough 2025 together, where we met a lot of new people. Now, we are as close as you can get, with our club currently at about 10-12 members.

We came up with the idea of bringing rules into it to keep it from being less of an organisation and more of a club. That meant we were all happy, and each had a vote without having randomers in, but anyone born in 2000 (or after) can apply to join. We just have a couple of rules before you get patched. For example, you need to do at least three rallies riding with the club before you get patched, etc.

We also introduced a council to keep the rules and stuff in order. The members are: No.1 – President is me (Cleggy), the VP is Kes, our Treasurer is Harvey Watkinson, and the Enforcer is Josh. This is purely to keep the club in good running order, which is working great.

At the time of writing, we have Mablethorpe left for 2025, which will be my 14th rally this season, and many club members have also been racking up the numbers this season. The longest one I’ve done is Mersea Island, which was 500 miles in total. I did that with Kes and my dad, riding the whole way. It took us about 10 hours both ways, including breaks. This is what we’re hoping will be a revival to the scene; it’s still busy all the time, but we need more ‘young guns’ in.

One of the main rallies, with most of us there, was Llandudno, where three riders were there: me (Cleggy), Scarlett, and George. There was also Harvey, Lia, Kes, and Blu, but they got there via train or car. It was about 240 miles in total, and for Scarlett and George, because they’re from Hull, it was about 350 miles in total. There are six riders in the club; the rest are girlfriends and friends who don’t have scooters but come to the rallies. There’s Kes, Harvey, and George with Vespa PX, then there’s Scarlett with a PK50, and I’ve got a Lambretta Li. We look forward to seeing everyone at rallies. Come and say hello.
