Ready to ride away. MOT until April 2021 Extremely reliable, has never let me down, 39000 miles with full service history, Starts instantly first press of the button and rides perfectly.
Completely standard except for a stainless steel Leo Vince Granturismo exhaust system.
Last of the large cc carburettor models, I find this really easy to work on compared to the later fuel injected models that I’ve owned that are packed full of expensive electronic stuff waiting to go wrong! According to Piaggio specs this has 21 bhp at the crank, so it’s on par with the GTS 250 and 300 and it has lovely smooth, linear, quick acceleration.
I’ve owned it for nearly 7 years and like the previous owner I have maintained it and serviced it at the recommended intervals using only the best quality consumables and finest recommended oils etc, The engine is mint. I did use it for years as my daily commuter but I don’t need to commute nowadays and I have other scooters, I rarely use this one now so I’m selling.
The bodywork is completely straight with no dents. The paintwork has a few scuffs and scratches (it is 17 years old) and there is a deep (touched up) scratch on the front next to right indicator, It has a bit of bubbled rust near the back light, this has been treated. The paintwork overall polishes up really well, it has a good deep shine, the paint quality is far better than my newer GTS 300. The scooter has been waxoiled underneath and ACF 50 treated inside the battery compartment, inside legshields and under the runner boards.
Recent service: New rollers and drive belt. Oil filter, Fully synthetic engine oil, Synthetic gearbox oil, New battery, Rear brake pads, It failed it’s MOT in 2016 on the rear brake, it probably just needed bleeding but I replaced the complete rear brake line and caliper with the later GTS 300 parts and new brake fluid. Coolant flush, Water pump refurbishment, new gasket and coolant refill. Front brake bled, Indicator beepers fitted, Cylinder compression test (Perfect compression) The Valves have been adjusted.
I was pretty bored during lock down number one and gave the Scooter’s fuel and ignition systems an intensive overhaul including; Brand new Genuine Keihin CVK30 carb over £200 from Scooter Centre Germany (not a cheap Chinese copy)
New inlet manifold, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel tap, air filter, stator plate ignition pickup , plug, ignition coil, HT lead and plug cap.
The infamous useless SAS valve has been removed and a proper blanking plate fitted, so no backfires.
Comes with Genuine Vespa back box, albeit a little scratched. Please note however it DOESN’T include the screen as shown in some photos.
MOT until April 2021 had only one advisory on the MOT for a slight notch in the steering race.
