She’s Got Claws

The scooter featured here is the first one I’ve seen, and possibly the first custom scooter to date to be painted entirely in chrome paint. Yes, I said ‘painted’. Anyway, it’s certainly the only one that the painter, James at MAS Restorations of Bradford has done for a customer.
If you have ever used the chrome paint available in rattle cans you will know that while it looks okay, it isn’t going to fool anyone into thinking that it is really chrome. This particular scooter, however, is one that warrants not just a second, but a third and fourth look as it appears to be predominantly red chrome. The trick to this, apparently, is that after the chrome base coat is applied a tinted lacquer is sprayed over the top to give it a coloured hue, while still showing the chrome finish underneath. All clever stuff and the finished product, when applied by a talented painter, is simply stunning...
