On Test: Lambretta tubless wheel rims by SIP
By: Web Editor
The world of tubeless wheel rims for classic scooters is a complex one, with ins and outs that twist and turn like a twisty turny thing. The main thing for most people though, is whether the product works or not.
Kegra Scooters had no problem fitting or removing Michelin S83 tyres to these rims.
Original design
Until the beginning of this year the only tubeless wheel rims I ran were the aluminium rims on my Vespa T5 and PX200, from SIP in Germany. I like the way they’re made, the people behind them and I have faith in that product. Then SIP sent me a version of the (then) new tubeless Lambretta wheel rim. Designed by SIP and produced by the same company in Asia for a few years with Vespa rims (I think it’s obvious where similar looking Vespa and Lambretta wheel rims may have come from...), I was impressed by SIP’s reports that its rims had been tested by itself and another German shop on both road and track. But of course we needed to do some testing too...
