Haven’t I seen you somewhere before?

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Piaggio must be over the moon with all these Vespa-looking scooters we spotted at the Milan Motorcycle show at the end of 2011. Although maybe not? Research shows quite a number of new retro looking scooters sold on that infamous internet auction site as ‘like Vespa’.

Haven’t I seen you somewhere before?

What you see here are the great pretenders; all from Asia (mostly China), all featuring plastic body panels around a steel tubular frame, and to be honest often nothing that special. Sadly, however, there will be people out there buying them, thinking they’ve got a genuine article. Granted they may be cheaper, but should they last a couple of years I bet their resale would be less than that of a pair of genuine Vespa PX panels.
